Reduce Costs for Insulin in 2021

September 1, 2020

This year, it will be more important than ever, that people on Medicare look at the Part D plans available in 2021. Through the authority of the Affordable Care Act, the "Part D Senior Savings Model" will allow some Part D plans to offer certain brands of Insulin (not all brands) at the cost of $35 for a 30-day supply. This payment amount will be offered through "enhanced" Part D plans which tend to have more expensive monthly premiums. People will need to look at all the options to see if their Insulin is covered and at what cost. The Part D costs and coverage information will be released in mid-October in time for Medicare's Annual Open Enrollment (Oct 15 - Dec 7)
